The 2024 CMOC AGM was held on Saturday 14 September 2024 at the Howick Softball Club. In attendance were 24 club members, who dove immediately into the nibbles provided by Justine Edwards and Renee Motion, and enjoyed catching up before the AGM officially commenced at 5.41pm.
Outgoing President Anthony McGivern opened the AGM, and was pleased to present the 2023/24 Annual Performance Report, which covers the period November 2023 to June 2024 (truncated as we have recently realigned our financial year). You can read the report here: Annual Performance Report CMOC 2024
Anthony was also pleased to present this year’s President’s Award to Bryce Brighouse, for continually delivering an incredible amount of work behind the scenes that enables our events to operate. The award was given to Bryce by Cameron Motion on behalf of last year’s President’s Award recipients, the Motion Family. You can read more about Bryce on page 15 of the 2023/24 Annual Performance Report.
This year we also welcome two new Life Members to CMOC:
- Tania Larsen, for her outstanding contributions and achievements
- Bryce Brighouse, for his dedication, innovation, and collaboration
You can read more about our new Life Members on page 16 of the 2023/24 Annual Performance Report.
We farewell Anthony McGivern, who has served as President for the past year, and Co-President for the three years prior to that, and thank him for “leaning in” to orienteering so thoroughly and passionately over these four years of his tenure. Anthony’s presidency was a whirlwind of innovation, and we as a club are fortunate for his expertise, experience, and dedication.
We have also elected our new 2024/25 Executive Committee as follows:
- President: Jo Wood
- Deputy: Justine Edwards
- Secretary: Renee Motion
- Treasurer: Clodagh Hoare
- Committee Members:
- Bev Shuker – equipment
- Katherine Granich – website/comms
- Val Robinson – schools
- Angela Marx
- Anthony McGivern
- Maree Wallace
- Scarlette Wardle – youth representative
We have also elected to retain the same membership fee structure as previous years, ensuring that orienteering is accessible to as many people as possible by not raising our fees. We remain one of the most cost-effective clubs in the country and are looking forward to welcoming new members.
The “business” portion of our AGM closed at 6.16pm, after which our attendees scoffed pizza and continued to enjoy each other’s company.
