Week 6 brings to a close the 2024 Southern and Eastern Zone Sprint Series. It’s been a busy, exciting six weeks, with lots of enthusiasm from our student participants across the 13 events!

We at CMOC have really enjoyed bringing this Sprint Series to our youth orienteers, as we believe youth engagement is critical to the future of our code. A huge thanks to the schools who hosted our events this year – we are so grateful that you opened your grounds to us and to the hundreds of students who came along each week to take part.

We’re also grateful to the sports directors, sports coordinators, teachers in charge, parent helpers, school staff, groundskeepers, and all other school personnel who supported the student orienteers this year. And, of course, all the parents, family, and friends who came to cheer them on!

CMOC runs these events on a voluntary basis, and our dedicated volunteers committed countless hours to making these events possible. The joy and excitement of the students makes it all worthwhile for us.

Sprint Finals (Champs) take place on 7 April and you can find the info here. Students who are eligible for the Sprint Finals will find out from their schools soon.

And now to the results!

The seventh event of the Southern Zone Sprint Series was held on Monday 25 March at Manurewa High.

The sixth event of the Eastern Zone Sprint Series was held on Tuesday 26 March at Macleans College.
