On Sunday 6 April 2025, over 400 students (in a total crowd of what looked to be 1,000) travelled to Macleans and St Kents Colleges to take part in the Auckland-region Schools’ Orienteering Sprint Championship. Check out the photos on our Facebook page here: CMOC Facebook page

The cumulation of students’ performance throughout each of our city’s 5 zone’s Sprint Series; the South, East, North, West and Central zones – on Sunday the top qualifying students gathered together to compete against their peers.

Hosted by Counties Manukau Orienteering, our volunteers were up and about from 7am setting up the day so that students of ≈70 schools from across the region could be tested, taught and prove their prowess across the physical and mental disciplines of Sprint Orienteering.

It was a bit of a busy day, especially for our tech ops / race control operator and the teams that had to lift key equipment from the morning’s event and rapidly move it to the afternoon’s location, and get ready for the second races.

We were very happy with the calibre of races delivered for our youth and the fun / challenge that they experienced. Thanks to the volunteers, and to the students for participating and making the day a great one.
