Join us for the second event in the 2024 Forest Cup series – four friendly forest orienteering events hosted by our three Auckland-based clubs: AOC, CMOC, and NWOC!

You think you know Waiuku Forest South… Come test your skills at Forest Cup 2 and see how well you really know CMOC’s beloved and oft-trodden, ever-changing, always-challenging cutty grass paradise!

Forest Cup 2: Waiuku Forest South

Terrain info: Pine forest on coastal sand dunes. Full body covering is recommended as the cutty grass can be vicious.

Courses:

  • White: 2.3km
  • Yellow: 2.6km
  • Orange Short: 3.2km
  • Orange Long: 4.2km
  • Purple/Red 5: 2.1km
  • Red 4: 4.4km
  • Red 3: 5.3km
  • Red 2: 6.5km
  • Red 1: 8.5km

Fees:

  • Juniors $10
  • Adults $20
  • Max family fee $50
  • SportIdent hire $3 per race
  • Non-club member levy $5
  • Non-club member levy (max per family) $10

How to get there: From Waiuku Township, take Queen Street South, which turns into Waiuku-Otaua Road, for 7km to Otaua. Then turn right and then left into Hoods Landing Road for 1.6km. Then turn right into Forestry Road, before going straight ahead into Ghezzie Road. Follow Ghezzie Road for 2km to the forest entrance by the mine site. Keep left and follow the O signs into the forest to the Event Centre, which is approximately 10 minutes from the forest entrance. 

Important note: Bring chocolate for Bryce if you plan on asking for any deviations to your entry on the day, as it’s in all of our best interests to keep him smiling… 🍫🍫🍫
