Eden Park Sprint Event – Results

Congratulations to those of you that completed your Eden Park Orienteering Sprint event!

The results for the sprint race are here. The results for the champions sprint lap are here

Although our teams were very happy with how the event went, we’re already giving thought to the possibility of a bigger and bolder event next year. So stay tuned to CMOC and Eden Park’s calendar and socials for more info…

The following results were made a little tricky (by ourselves) to calculate, but we wanted entrants to be able to travel safely down and later on back up, the steep stairs between the Coaches’ boxes and Players’ Changing Rooms, and let everyone have a little explore of these areas that the public normally never get to access without being rushed by the timing clock. So we paused time between control #113 (Home Coaching Box) and #114 (Players’ Tunnel Exit / Entry to the Playing Field), and also later between #114 and #119 (Away Team Coaching Box)…

We also pulled out a ‘Champions Lap’ sprint time, of the time taken to race around the Eden Park (the All Blacks’ Fortress) world renown No. 1 Playing Field. Possibly the first time a race around the perimeter of the field has been ever held – we were fortunate to have secured permission from the team at Eden Park to access this hallowed turf. CMOC would like to again thank the wonderful staff at Eden Park for partnering with us to bring this event to students from across our city; from as far afield as Bombay School and Orewa College, and also locals like Balmoral. Their community drive to bring sport to the community rivals our own at Counties Manukau Orienteering.

Congratulations again! See you at your next orienteering event, be it a sprint, park/farm or forest event, we hope to see you soon.
