It was a foggy start to the day for the second event of the 2024 Forest Cup at Waiuku Forest today! Our volunteers were up bright and early to set up for the event, where we expected to host over 200 competitors.

In the end, 273 courses were run – some of these were second courses after people had already run one course and decided to try a different one – and our team was kept very busy issuing idents and handing out maps.

The cutty grass was its usual evil forest entity, and although we did warn you about full body covering, not everyone took heed… So we saw a fair few shredded knees and arms! But we also saw a lot of enthusiastic smiles and excited orienteers discussing their forest adventures (and sometimes their mishaps).

Results from Forest Cup 2 are available here: 20240825_Forest_Cup_2

And you can also find them on WinSplits here: Results from 2024 Forest Cup 2 on WinSplits

Finally, if you entered on the day today, and you still need to pay for your run, you can find fees and payment info here – don’t forget to add on $3 if you hired an ident. Use your name as the reference so we can find you when we reconcile the payments!

Sincere thanks to the CMOC team who made today possible – we’re looking forward to seeing you all at Forest Cup 3 on 8 September, hosted at Woodhill Forest by our friends at NWOC. Info here and entries here.
