Counties Manukau Orienteering Club is delighted to host the Auckland regional 2023 Inter-Club Relay Competition!
Date: Sunday 5 November
Venue: Auckland Botanic Gardens, Manurewa (out of bounds until the event, please note that the Event Centre is at the northwestern end of the Gardens)
Hosted by: Counties Manukau Orienteering Club (CMOC)
Entry fee: Entry fee per participant ($8 Young-uns and Juniors / $15 for Open and above, plus $2 access fee).
Briefing: 10am, with commencement shortly thereafter.
Idents: CMOC will supply all idents.
Registration: Closed 31 October.
Grades:
There are five grades:
- Young-uns (up to M/W14)
- Junior (up to M/W18)
- Open (up to M/W49)
- Masters (up to M/W65)
- Veteran (M/W65+)
Competition / course lengths:
The competition will consist of 3 sequential courses (/legs) of approximately equal length in a sprint format with an estimate winning time of 12-15 minutes per leg.
Format:
- Three members per team.
- All teams must be mixed gender.
- Points will be determined by team placings in each grade; 10 points for 1st place, 9 points for 2nd place down to 1 point for the 10th placed team.
- Only a Club’s highest point score in each grade will count.
- Each club can enter as many teams per grade as they like.
- The competition is open to all Club members, independent of ability.
- Counties Manukau will issue sport idents for all competitors. These will be available from registration on the day.
On the day:
- Parking is located on Everglade Drive at the northwestern end of the park, NOT at the main Gardens parking area to the south.
- Registration and sport ident collection from 9.15am, please ensure these are uplifted before 9.55am.
- Briefing: 10am.
- First start 10.15am. Each grade will start at approximately 5-minute intervals.
- Toilets available for use are located within the Gardens, inside the competition area. Please follow the direct route indicated and do not interact with competitors. Disqualification by in-field observers may result from breach of this rule.
- Garden boxes (indicated by olive coloration on your maps) are, as usual, out of bounds and may not be crossed. Even if you could step across it. Disqualification by in-field observers may result from breach of this rules.
- Dogs and dog walkers may be in the vicinity. They have been advised of our presence. Please be aware and considerate to dog walkers.
- Mass starts will be held at 11am (for leg 2 runners) and 11.45am (for leg 3 runners)
- Awards and prize ceremony is expected to be held at approximately 12.30pm.
