How do I know if I’m eligible?
The top 10 competitors in each of the 10 competition classes:
Year 7 Girls and Boys/Open (includes medals)
Year 8 Girls and Boys/Open (includes medals)
Junior (Year 9) Girls and Boys/Open
Intermediate (Years 10 and 11) Girls and Boys/Open
Senior (Years 12 and 13) Girls and Boys/Open
…are eligible to enter the Championship!
Your result is determined by your Top 4 placings/scores from across your local Sprint Series. However, if competitors are unable to attend, then the eligibility extends until 10 competitors have entered. That is, if the 3rd, 6th, and 7th placed are unable to attend, then eligibility would extend to the 11th, 12th, and 13th placed competitors from their Zone’s Sprint Series are now eligible… And so on. Please advise your entries manager as soon as possible if you are unable to attend, so that others can take part if you cannot!
How do I enter?
Colleges please enter via College Sport. Intermediates please enter using this spreadsheet.
Entries for the public race at St Kentigern College on the same courses will start after all Championship Entrants have started (estimated to be around 2.30pm). Teachers, supporters, parents, non-qualifiers are all eligible to enter – please use this spreadsheet to enter. The cost for public entry is $5, and Counties Manukau Orienteering Club will invoice schools directly for Intermediate School entries, including public race entrants.
What if I have a student who wants to enter but isn’t in the Top 10?
If you have students that are just outside the Top10 (the next 5, i.e. top 15 competitor), and would like to extend the invitation to them to compete in the Championship, you are welcome to do so. Please exercise common sense and practicality, and let us know if you have any questions. We always have a small number (sometimes as high as 30%) from the Top 10 who are unable to attend, and then their placing extends to the 11th, 12th etc. We are not going to track all the details, but will instead empower each school to make some sensible local decisions.
