Update: Orienteering during COVID-19

CMOC is privileged to be able to run orienteering events and training days during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In order to be able to deliver these events to our communities, we are required to follow public health regulations.

PUKEKOHE SUMMER SERIES – 1 DECEMBER EVENT CANCELLED

Because of current Covid restrictions the summer series event to be held at Pukekohe High on 1 December has been cancelled

AOS 9 12 DECEMBER AT WAIUKU FOREST

AOS9 will take place in Waiuku Forest on 12th December and will be run under Covid Restriction Rules; whilst current alert level restrictions do not permit the running of this event CMOC are planning in the hope of a change in alert levels from the start of December. If Covid restrictions are not eased the event will be cancelled. Please note that All entrants over the age of 12 must be double vaccinated – this requirement is undertaken on trust PLEASE DO NOT PUT OTHER ORIENTEERS AT RISK. Entry is by eventO ONLY NO ON DAY ENTRIES OR CASH PAYMENTS

Directions: Waiuku Forest Southern

From Auckland: travel South on SH1 to J461 (Drury off ramp), bear right on exit ramp, turn Right on SH22 towards Pukekohe

Just after Pukekohe Golf Club (on your right) turn right towards Glenbrook, stay on Glenbrook Road to Waiuku, turn left on to Queen Street, following signs towards Otaua

At end of long straight at T intersection, turn right then onto Hoods Landing Road, then onto Forestry Road, then onto Ghezzie Road

Steel Mill Mine site entrance is at end of Ghezzie Road and the entrance to the forest is to the left (forest entrance can be obscured until you are right up to it)

Follow forest road to event centre area

From Pukekohe:

Take Waiuku Road out of Pukekohe to Puni, at Puni School turn left down Aka Aka Road, Keep on this road until sharp RH bend (looks like a T-Junction) and turn right onto Otaua Road

Keep onto Factory Road, Then onto Hoods Landing Road, Then onto Forestry Road, Then onto Ghezzie Road

Steel Mill Mine site entrance is at end of Ghezzie Road and the entrance to the forest is to the left (forest entrance can be obscured until you are right up to it)

Follow forest road to event centre area

EVENT RULES:

For event participant safety please follow the rules below under which it is intended to run the event. These rules are put in place for the safety of participants and event organisers:

  1. People go directly to the start from their car
  2. Please do not go to the finish area or congregate before start
  3. People who have hired ident will pick them up on the way from the cars to the start.
  4. Start times will be issued by club:
    1.  9.30 CMOC 
    1. 10.00 Auckland OC
    1. 10.30 North West OC
    1. non club members
    1. 11.00 CMOC
    1. Starts finish at 12.00
  5. Once downloaded runners are asked to return to their cars to wait for others and to level the event as soon as possible – PLEASE – No socializing after event
  6. All entrants over the age of 12 must be double vaccinated – this is undertaken on trust PLEASE DO NOT PUT OTHER ORIENTEERS AT RISK
  7. Please scan the QR coding signs as you leave the car park
  8. Use the sanitizer and again at hired ident pickup.
  9. Cones will be placed 2 metres apart at the start to ensure the separation of runners.
  10. The map boxes will be placed two metres apart for your safety

PUKEKOHE SUMMER SERIES – 24 NOVEMBER EVENT CANCELLED

Because of Covid restrictions the 24 November summer series event planned for Rosa Birch Reserve has been cancelled.

PUKEKOHE SUMMER SERIES – 17 NOVEMBER EVENT CANCELLATION

Because of Covid restrictions the 17 November summer series event planned for Lough Bourne Drive has been cancelled.

AUCKLAND ORIENTEERING SERIES 9 ON WAIUKU SOUTH MAP – FURTHER POSTPONEMENT TO 12 DECEMBER

Because of the current Covid restrictions this event has been again postponed; this time to 12 December. We hope the restrictions will have eased by then to enable the event to go ahead.

PUKEKOHE SUMMER SERIES – 10 NOVEMBER EVENT CANCELLATION

Because of Covid restrictions the 10 November summer series event planned for Pukekohe Showgrounds has been cancelled.

PUKEKOHE SUMMER SERIES 3 NOVEMBER CANCELLATION

Because of Covid restrictions the 3 November summer series event planned for Schlaepfer Park has been cancelled.

PUKEKOHE SUMMER SERIES 27 OCTOBER CANCELLATION

Because of Covid restrictions the event at O’Connor Drive on 27 October has been cancelled.

2021 NORTHERN REGIONAL CHAMPS – REVISED DATES

Because of Covid restrictions the Northern Regional Champs to be held in the Taupo area have been deferred until 12/13 February 2022.
